GOD SEES THE FUTURE GENERATIONS
Deuteronomy 6:7 says, “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
God is interested in the family. He has us covered from A–Z! If the average life span of people today is eighty years, then I believe that every time God looks at us, He looks at least two hundred and forty years into the future—three generations deep!
Why can’t you look three generations deep, too? Why not determine in your thought- life and your prayer- life that your children will grow in the ways of God and serve Him all the days of their life? Why not? They have their own free will, of course, but you have the power of influence, the power of prayer, and God can give you wisdom in sharing what you know with your kids.
Throughout the Word of God, we hear promises toward our children’s children, which is why I believe that, when God looks at you, He sees your kids and grandkids. And I believe that He wants to provide for you and your family in every way—spiritually, physically, and financially!
Your kids are going to have questions. They’re going to look to you as a guide to how to live. Show them the best you can and tell them that you’re not perfect, but you serve a perfect God. What you don’t understand about God isn’t an excuse to cut down God. Never cut down God around your kids, ever. Determine in your mind that God is good and that just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean that God has done something wrong. He’s never wrong.
If your kids ask questions about God or life that you don’t know the answer to, don’t make something up just because you want them to see you as strong. You don’t have to know it all. Just tell them, “I don’t know, but I’m going to try and find out.” Then, pray and ask God to lead you to the answers. When your kids see that you seek God and His Word for answers, you’re giving them a tool for future use. They will one day follow your example and that will help them to serve God on their own.
God will honor your children. He loves them more than you do. How many times have I read where God said something like, “I remember My servant Abraham” or “I remember My servant David and I will not allow this or that to come upon his children or his seed.” Read your Bible and you’ll see how amazing and honorable God is!
