Obviously you don’t want to wait 45 seconds every time you ask your dog to do something. To get quick responses, professional trainers shape a dog’s behavior to a zero-second latency. This means your dog will do whatever you’re asking immediately. In the course of training, sometimes your dog doesn’t do what you ask quite as quickly as before. He might start getting a little lazy... like sitting five to ten seconds after you’ve asked. That’s normally due to lack of motivation. Maybe he doesn’t like the food treat you’re offering.
