“Me, too!” Lola’s mother took a sip of water.

“Oh, good. I thought I was weird. I mean, if you love to do something, why should you be embarrassed?”

“Maybe even though we love to do something, we’re worried about not being good at it,” Lillian Jones said. “Maybe we should be more confident.”

“I’m confident in my dreams!” Lola said.

“Me, too!” Lillian said, laughing. “And, right now, I’m confident you should brush your teeth. It’s getting late!”

Lola ran to the bathroom first. She brushed her teeth quickly, tiptoed to her room to get the dog collages, and then tiptoed into her mother’s room. She put the Daisy Dog picture under her mother’s pillow. She hung the Dancing Dog on the door of her mother’s closet, and the Bathtub Dog on the mirror in the bathroom. She put the Bird Dog in her mother’s pajama drawer and the Taco Dog inside a box of chocolate-chip cookies in case her mother had a snack before bedtime.
