Mid-morning
After transporting Roam and herself out of the crime scene that was Morgan Hensleyâs office, Honey had thrown a bubble spell over all of Cauldron Falls. It was a combination spell that didnât let anyone transport out of the bubble, but it also didnât allow anyone to transport into the bubble either. She was wiped out from casting such a widespread spell over the whole town and the woods beyond. Roam instructed her to go straight home and act normal, while he and the Shifters took the necessary steps to start an official investigation.
âBut what about Gloria?â Honey had said as tears ran down her cheeks. âI have to check on her. What ifâ¦â
âNow, donât go thinkinâ the worst âbout everything and everyone. I shouldnât have let you go in that place before I cleared it myself. Iâm sorry about that Honey. I was not thinkinâ straight.â Roamâs concern washed over her.
âItâs fine. Iâll be fine. Itâs just so awful.â Honey sniffed and wiped her face.
âYeah. It will be fine. Cauldron Falls, back in the day, had a fair share of ugly. That was probably before youâre time. But donât you worry. Iâll take care of this.â Roam laid his hand on her arm. âIâve gotta get going now. You good?â
She nodded her head and watched him trot off toward the edge of the woods. The fact that Roam OâReilly was not a warlock, was easy to see. He was absolutely animalistic. His jet black hair, muscular frame, and bright blue eyes were all giveaways that he was not your average creature. As a panther Shifter, Roam was a very rare species. Like Honey, he wasnât a native Cauldron Falls inhabitant, and not really Murphy OâReillyâs son. Both were adopted. But everyone knew Roamâs story. No one knew where Honey came from. Murphy had rescued Roam from the clutches of disaster on one of his many trips around the world. The poor Shifter was being sold in to servitude to an off-shoot tribe of witches and warlocks on some far away island. Murphy purchased Roam by turning over a whole collection of exotic herbs and spices convincing the wicked tribe if they made the potions with the booty they could open a black hole to another parallel universe, which of course it would not. With Roam safely in his possession, Murphy backtracked his route and replenished his spices and herbs, brought Roam home and raised him own alongside his biological daughter, Uma. Honey knew Roamâs adoption story as if it was her own. Now, that Roam spent his days running free through the hills and valleys around the small town, she didnât feel bad being a tad bit jealous of his origin story. That tad bit of jealousy didnât prevent her from listening intently every time Murphy OâReilly belted it out in the pub. He told it with such character and love. The only real reason she was jealous at all was because she didnât have a tale about her own origin to match it.
