Chapter Twenty-Three

It had taken a few minutes before Angela caught her breath enough to get Heather undressed. But the wait had been worth it. Heather Bradshaw was every bit as beautiful as Angela had supposed she might be.

They’d made love for several hours, then realized they were both hungry again.

“Starving,” Heather declared. “Not that I’m complaining. I always like to eat dessert first.”

Angela blushed, which earned her a kiss.

“I mean, I’m kind of a hobbit like that.”

“What?”

“I’m always down for second dessert.”

Angela’s cheeks flamed hotter. “Me too. But I want actual food first.”

Heather grinned triumphantly and kissed her again, nibbling on her lip as she pulled away. “Sounds good to me.”

They decided on an Irish pub-style eatery in the center of town for two reasons. The first was that its seasonal seating on the patio would allow them to bring Ragnar along too. The second was that, of the two establishments in Fenwood that allowed pets, the other was Tealeaves. And there was no way in hell Angela was marching in there with Heather on her arm.

She didn’t care if it was well past when Lauren was supposed to be working. She had no doubt that at least a few of the baristas had heard something of her scheme. And word would get back to Rae and Lauren before they’d taken their first sip of lavender latte.

No, Angela wasn’t letting a word of this reach her friends—not until she knew what it was. That was a conversation they hadn’t had yet. Hell, by time she’d even known there was an it to inquire about, she’d been a little too distracted by Heather’s tongue in her mouth.

Not that she was complaining. Whatever it was, it had been…well, incredible didn’t cover it. A month ago, she’d had no interest in a relationship. But now?

She was of a different mind now. She wanted to pursue it. She hoped Heather did too.

But if nothing came of it all, if it had been a moment of bliss and nothing else, the filling of their mutual needs…well, she surely would not complain about that either.

Nor would she tell Lauren. Not until she was good and ready to anyway.

Right now, her brain was a little too saturated with oxytocin to be making rational choices. And she wasn’t going to risk subjecting herself to a lifetime of teasing on a chemically induced bad decision.

So, they settled into a pair of patio chairs at a corner table of Aberdeen’s. Ragnar surveyed their surroundings for all of thirty seconds, paying more heed to the scents in the air than to any persons passing by. Then he plopped down under the table and promptly drifted off to sleep.

“What’s good?” Heather asked.

“This is the first time I’ve been here.”

“Really?”

Angela nodded. “They opened a few years back, and I’ve always meant to check it out. I just…never have. It had been a cupcake place before that. I never went there either, actually.”

“Good God. Neither cupcakes nor a pub could lure you? Just how strong is your will, anyway?”

She laughed.
