âREN?â Georgia asked as she wandered around the desolate halls of the Intercontinental. Although most of the rooms were still empty, most had been cleaned out and finally painted in a year of solid effort. She stared back at her mysterious text of â22Bâ before continuing her exploration of the second floor.
âRen?â she called again. She saw light under one of the rooms.
Sure enough, it was 22B. The door creaked as she pushed it open.
Her eyes lit up as she saw candles and roses all around the room. A little black dress lay on the bed.
âRen, Ren, Ren,â she sighed as she slid into the little number and a pair of heels that slipped on as if she was Cinderella herself. âI suppose this is your idea of dinner at eight.â
She texted him back with, âIâm ready,â and then tousled her hair, so she at least looked somewhat presentable. A minute later, there was a surprisingly timid knock.
âYou know, I will totally get in a ridiculous dress if it means you are going to wear that,â she sighed as Ren stepped into the room in a tux. He even had his barbarian hair trimmed and pulled back into a neat ponytail.
Ren took a step back and whistled appreciatively. âThank goodness for ridiculous dresses,â he sighed. He then produced a bag from behind his back. âI couldnât make you suffer with anything too formal, so I ordered tacos.â
âYouâre going to eat a taco in a tuxedo?â she asked.
âDamn straight. Black bean, corn and green chili for you, my love, and I had them hold the cilantro.â
âThe perfect day continues,â she sighed as she they settled around the little table set up in front of the bed. She pointed to a plain brown parcel on the dresser. âAre you going to make me feel even more spoiled tonight, Mr. Lyashev?â
