Chapter Fourteen
DECLAN
I pushed my glasses up on my head and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Nolan made a comment about how I had been better at my work-life balance this past week, but he didnât know I wasnât working twelve-hour days at the brewery because, in my spare time, I was working on the website redesign for the Sullivans. And when I wasnât doing that, I spent as much time as possible with Lila.
I rubbed a hand across Lilaâs thigh as she sat up in my bed beside me, working on her own spreadsheets. This past week sheâd been picking up shifts at her parents' bar since one of their wait staff had quit on the spot. She had also hired a marketing firm to help them get out of the red. She worked a double tonight, so when she came over, we hopped into the shower together and had acrobatic sex in there.
âHowâs the beer coming along?â she asked me without looking up at whatever she was reading on her computer.
I shrugged. âThatâs Nolanâs gig, but he seems happy so far.â
âDadâs excited about it.â
I squeezed her thigh and worked on coding while she scrolled on her computer.
âDid the photos turn out okay?â she asked.
I nodded. âYeah. Theyâre great.â
She closed the lid of her laptop but didnât ask me to stop working. I felt her staring at me, and when I turned to her, she had that bright smile painted across her face. I loved that her smile radiated across her whole body. Like it was only for me.
âWhat?â I asked.
âI love when you wear your glasses,â she said, reaching a hand up to stroke my face. âSo sexy.â
âYeah, you got a thing for nerds, huh?â
âMaybeâ¦â she trailed off, and then tried to get a peek at the website.
I shifted away from her. âNope, you only get to see it when Iâm done.â
She pouted. âPlease, Dec. I want to see the progress.â
âWell, you need to answer about the logo first.â
She frowned. âDad canât decide! Felix did an amazing job.â
âLetâs look at them again,â I suggested.
I pulled up Felixâs designs on my computer, and we looked at them together. Lila stared at my screen and wrinkled her nose as she thought about it.
Felix gave us three logo concepts. One was a circular logo with a brown background and a green four-leaf clover in the center. Above the clover, read âSULLIVANâSâ across the top, and then down below it read âBAR.â The second one was another circular logo with a Celtic knot design as a border. The rest of the circle was blocked out in green with a harp in the center. The word âSULLIVANâSâ was written around the top above the harp, and then âIRISH PUBâ was below it. The third one was rectangular with a brown background and had green four-leaf clovers on each corner. In the center was a pint of beer, with âSULLIVANâSâ above the pint glass and âBARâ below it.
I pulled up his notes again to reread them.
