“So where are we going now?” Amy asked, looking out the window. “This doesn’t seem like the way to the heliport.”

I smiled. “That’s because it isn’t.”

“Is this a kidnapping or something?” Rose asked.

I threw my head back and laughed. This girl was crazy, but I liked her brand of crazy.

“I can assure you I’m not trying to kidnap you,” I said. “We’re supposed to be getting attention, so we’re getting attention.”

“I swear,” Rose said. “If this turns into a kidnapping…”

She trailed off. Like she didn’t have anywhere to go from there. And I couldn’t help but laugh all over again. The girl had spirit.

She’d been promoted to a minor speaking role. She was playing, appropriately enough, a best friend for Amy’s character who had to be recast now that Garrett was out.

The guy who’d been set to play the male best friend was understandably annoyed, but he seemed to blame Garrett. Besides, he was still getting paid.

“So where are we going?” Amy asked. “Are we doing a shopping spree on Rodeo Drive? Do I get to tell some snooty saleslady she made a big mistake?”

I laughed again.

“I think things have changed around here just a little since Pretty Woman, but if you want a shopping spree on Rodeo then you can have one. Just realize the kind of money you’re making now isn’t going to go very far in any kind of shopping spree. Richard Gere was a billionaire. You’re not.”

“I’m doing pretty well for where I came from, though,” Amy said, letting out a sniff to let me know what she thought of my opinion.

“Maybe so,” I said. “Besides. You’ll want to get the production to cover your costs. They’re going to want you in the best of the best so you look good for the public. Anything we get tonight we’ll charge to Lucas.”

Amy’s eyes lit up. “Seriously?”

“Seriously,” I said. “You’re going to need a wardrobe that looks good if we’re going to get people’s attention.”

Amy looked at Rose, and they both let out a squeal. Arthur looked between the two of them and rolled his eyes.

Though I noticed when he was done rolling his eyes they settled on Rose. He seemed more interested in her than he’d ever been in any other woman I’d seen him with.

“So where do we go first?” Amy asked.

“I figure we get new duds for everyone, and from there we’re going out to see and be seen. What do you think of that?”

“I think it sounds like a great idea,” Rose said.

“Of course you think it sounds like a great idea,” Amy said. “You’re getting free clothes, after all.”

“So what if I am?” she said. “You’re also getting those freebies.

“Don’t worry,” I said. “Everybody’s getting freebies by the time this is all done.”

“Right,” Amy said. “Then let’s do this!”

After a whirlwind day of shopping and making sure everything was absolutely perfect we were ready for the evening and whatever that might bring.

“So where are we going?” Amy asked.

“That’s a good question,” I said.
