Chapter Nine

Adam’s alarm beeped softly in the morning, waking them. Rose stirred in the curve of his arm, tucked against his body. She felt his lips press gently against her sleep-rumpled hair.

“Morning, Little girl. I’m sorry to wake you up so early. I have a meeting this morning I can’t miss. Would you like to nap a bit longer and I’ll wake you up for breakfast?”

“Can I do that?” she asked, struggling to open her eyes fully.

“Sleep, Rosebud. Daddy will help you get up later.” He rolled out of bed and tugged the covers back into place.

Nodding, she turned over onto her tummy and nestled in the warm spot he’d just vacated. She inhaled deeply, enjoying his lingering scent on the sheets. A caressing hand roamed the length of her spine and cupped her bottom. Rose smiled as he patted fondly, reminding her of his play.

Like she could forget that.

She heard him moving quietly around the room and into the attached master bathroom. The sound of water spraying followed, and she couldn’t stop the smile that curved her lips once again when she heard him groan in delight. Rose could picture him standing under the showerhead, enjoying the warm deluge.

His lovemaking still reverberated inside her. Rose hadn’t known she could feel that depth of emotion. Her steamy dreams had come true every time she blinked her eyes open in the darkness and discovered that he held her close throughout the night. She’d felt precious and protected from everything.
