Chapter Seven

The dragon was going to pull out before he came.

That idea kept Jack cognizant even as the violation progressed. He was still aroused, and the dragon’s rough treatment wasn’t causing quite enough distress to fight the physical awakening caused by the magical shift.

The dragon bit his shoulder. Instead of adding even more pain, this fresh invasion cleared Jack’s head.

Let his body do what it would. He’d get a chance to attack when the dragon was distracted by orgasm. Jack wouldn’t have time to roll over and attack, and even though he was a Night Wanderer now, he didn’t know what shape he would automatically take. And he didn’t have the time or luxury to figure out how to transform himself. Pulling into his own head, he sealed his shield over his thoughts and focused within.

Question: did he still have enough psychic ability to use as a weapon? Usually, when changed, you retained what you had before. But that wasn’t always the case. Sometimes you were left with nothing.

Jack gathered all his strength and waited for the dragon to pull out.

Much sooner than Jack could credit, he did. Jack felt a flicker of grim triumph. His rapist was a minute man.

As the dragon groaned his release, Jack dropped his shield and hit him with everything he had.

It was the sick bastard’s turn to scream.

Jack rolled over, thankful his ass was already healing. He stared into the dragon’s eyes and let loose. He’d always needed visual contact to attack most effectively. He glared at the dragon.

The magical creature stumbled back and shifted to his scaly form.

Or tried to. Jack snarled, “No you don’t.”

“You… You… can’t…” Staggering away, the dragon made for the door.

Jack didn’t weigh his options. If he gave the last of his energy into this attack and the dragon defeated him, he’d have nothing left to fight with. He’d assumed he was attacking with everything in him, but apparently there was more. He relished that realization as his rapist fled the room.

Gil thought he heard something. Not with his telepathy but with his ears. He slipped into a doorway and closed the door most of the way, crouching and listening. He would rip out the throat of any foe.

And maybe he would have actually tried taking out the dragon, but he was so obviously fleeing something that Gil was too amazed to attack. He peeked out into the hallway and watched the dragon, who had to bend over slightly because he was eight feet tall and wondered what had spooked the massive lizard.

Well, he thought as he began to jog, seeking anything of Jack, whatever it was, maybe it will turn out to be a case of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

He got no further psychic impressions from Jack, but he scented something that reminded him of the scent of the man aroused. But he also smelled fear and something decidedly not Jack. After a moment, he identified the aroma of a Night Wanderer.
