Barefoot waterskiing is one of the more strenuous water sports. Lake Marion bears the footprints of a world-class barefoot skiing team that gives exhibitions throughout the region.

In mid-November fallen cypress needles cover the surface of Cathedral Bay in Bamberg County. The origin of these oval geological features called Carolina bays is mysterious. Some contain standing water, most are wet and swampy, and others have sandy rims. All are oriented northwest to southeast.

In this flooded Kershaw County field a man and his dog are alert for birds. Duck hunting has been many a South Carolinian’s passion over the years. Decoys, freezing blinds, and the calls of mallards make for warm memories of even the rawest winter morning.
