Chapter Sixteen

I stared at the tantalizing vampire as my loins quivered. The weird part was I never used the word loins before—and I would likely throat punch someone pretentious enough to do so—but that was the kind of effect Antony was having on me.

He had to be the hottest man I’d ever laid eyes on.

Was it stupid to agree to spend the night with him here in his small, aromatic cottage? Probably. I’d been known to do lots of stupid things, but none sounded quite as fun as the prospect of working up a sweat with Mr. Sexy.

Dax wasn’t pleased, but that should make me even more inclined. He’d been pretty nice to me since coming to this crazed wonderland, but that didn’t excuse any of the terrible things he’d done leading up to that point. Plus, I’d given him the map, sending him on his merry way to let him be the hero, the white knight riding up on his steed to save his sister, Frankie, and Jason.

And I could work off some pent-up energy.

Antony watched me quietly while all these thoughts ran riot through my brain. His posture was both regal and relaxed as he leaned against one of the beams that kept his angled roof up. I, on the other hand, felt awkward as hell just sitting at his kitchen table.

I drummed my fingers on the wood, tapping out a beat. “So… what should we do?”

Antony smiled. “Whatever the lady pleases.”

God, even his responses were sexy.

“Well, I have to warn you. I’m not exactly used to this kind of thing. I’m more of a “go on a few dates, get to know a person, check out their Instagram stories, awkwardly sext until it dries up” kind of thing.”

Antony cocked his head as if he had no idea what I was talking about.

“Right. Stuck in a maze. No Instagram. Got it.” Making my thumb and forefinger into a gun, I gave him a wink and a finger shoot… and instantly regretted it. How was I so bad at this? Oh, that’s right. I didn’t date. Hadn’t ever really dated. And the last person I’d made out with was Dax, and he did it just to trick me, so…

Antony closed the short distance from the beam to the table and leaned forward, placing both palms on the wood until our faces were only a foot apart. “You are quite beautiful, Winter. Even your name—it’s like freshly fallen snow.”

He stared into my eyes, melting me with each passing second. There was no one more handsome or sexy in the world. His chin, his cheeks, his lips were all the work of a master sculpture. The soft indent at the base of his throat was smooth and alluring. The rounded chest and flat abs peeking out of his halfway unbuttoned shirt made me want to undress him fully. He smelled of rosemary and cinnamon and a scent I couldn’t name—fragrant and musky—but it all made me want to bury my nose in his chest and inhale.
