Chapter 7

I had said I was done talking and meant it, so instead of saying anything, I settled on giving her an unhappy look.

She said, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable again. But, if you see him, could you let him know I’d like to meet him sometime? I work at the small bakery at the south end of the docks.”

I nodded again, and decided I was done bathing. Carefully climbing out, I turned my body so she wouldn’t be able to see my front. She’d get a nice view of my butt if she looked, but there was no avoiding that. Damn the god, or gods, that decided to put something private on the rear of our bodies.

At least I hadn’t heard any sound at all from her from the time said body part left water to the time I was on the platform with my clothes. I grabbed a nearby towel and wiped myself down, then got dressed.

As I finished dressing and turned to walk away, she said, “It was nice meeting you, Sister Raven. Also, if you don’t mind me saying, you have a cute ass. I’m sure your girl will love it.”

Still trying to think about something other than my rear and commentary on it, I went upstairs and found Milla having a cup of water, with three piles of paper in front of her.

She looked up as I walked in, my hood still up but my blush finally subsiding, and asked, “Have a nice bath?”

“Well, I’m feeling a bit better at least,” I said as I sat down and grabbed one of the papers. As I looked it over, I quickly realized what it was.

“Why do we have the blood contracts here? And when did they get here?” I asked, putting it back.

“They arrived while you were out bathing, and they’re here because Tom asked that they be brought here. Also, I know Tom isn’t going to let this go, and if we’re going to pursue it, we need information.”

“And you think these nobles will help us?” I asked, putting my hand on the nearest stack of contracts.

“Those nobles, no. They’re all either dead or out of our reach. Most of them are in or will be going to the burning sands,” She said, referring to the stack my hand was on. “We’ll burn those tomorrow after breakfast.

“These contracts, on the other hand,” she said, placing her
