SMALL STEPS: GIVING GRATITUDE FOR FOOD
Before I eat, I take three breaths in and out though my nose. This primes my digestion for eating, as smell is a powerful trigger. It also relaxes my nervous system.
I then verbally or internally thank myself for prepping and buying the food, and the food itself for nourishing me. This reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol in my brain, and lets my body produce some of the good stuff, dopamine, the happy hormone. Gratitude is powerful like that.
I take three more breaths in and out through my nose. Then I eat.
