Science is all about empirical evidence, which can be defined as data that's acquired by observation or experimentation. Data has always been part of the scientific method and is critical to collecting evidence to prove a theory or hypothesis.

When these two concepts come together, they allow you to tell a story with information using data visualizations that provide insights and give us the ability to understand trends instantly.

What makes great data visualizations?

For me, it has been a subjective question with my answer evolving over time, which means it can be a challenge to provide a straightforward answer.

What I find beautiful and intuitive might not be as insightful to others. This is similar to works of art where different styles, periods, and artists will have lovers and critics. Over the last few years, I have witnessed how data visualizations have evolved into an art form where technology and coding have allowed creativity to flourish. This movement from creating simple charts, plots, and graphics has evolved to what is commonly known as data viz.
