Two hours later, as she slept beside me, her soft, warm body splayed across me, I stared up at the ceiling, debating on whether I should leave.

Guilt was setting in, although it had no business here. I didn’t give a fuck what Creed would say when he learned of what happened. This was his doing. He had pushed me. Journey was a temptation any sane man couldn’t resist, so he had to have known this would happen.

My phone buzzed on the nightstand. I picked it up and saw the message was from Hawk, not Creed.

— How’s Journey doing?

Fuck.

The guilt I’d been battling hit me like a two-ton hammer, nearly stealing my breath. While I’d been rebelling against Creed for his high-handedness, I hadn’t given any thought to Hawk or how he felt about the woman I had fucked a short time ago.

With a sigh, I tapped a quick response, careful not to jar Journey in the process.

— Better.

— You’re at her house.

I squeezed my eyes shut, blocking out the contrition that was starting to eat at me from the inside. I hadn’t considered the fact that Hawk tracked my phone. We all had them set up that way, just in case. I rarely used the app that would show me where they were, but Hawk evidently did.

My thumb hovered over the keypad as I tried to come up with something to say. Unfortunately, I had nothing. There was nothing I could say to him that would make this better. Once he learned what I did, I was sure a rift would develop in our friendship. The thought of losing what Hawk and I shared … yeah, it made the fucking remorse hit me tenfold.

I curled my arm around Journey, pulling her tightly against me as I closed my eyes. I could deal with the repercussions tomorrow. Right now, the only thing I wanted was to let her fill the hole inside me. The one that had been there for so long, I wasn’t sure I would know what to do if it went away for good.
