Chapter 8

The long night

The sun had not warmed the earth as much as it would on any normal day. The huge moon filled the sky with its luminescent body, blocking out the sun as it crawled across the heavens. As night chased away the light, it brought with it a cold chill that the colonists were not used to.

Andre sat with Magnus huddled between his legs. He had his arms wrapped around his mate, as much to keep him warm as with affection. It was their turn to keep watch, and they sat in the long grass close to one of the huge towers on the outskirts of the orchard.

“It feels like our lives have changed so much in such a short time, Andre. It frightens me.”

Andre tightened his embrace and kissed the top of his mate’s blond hair. It smelled so fresh, tumbling down as it did around the beautiful Omega’s shoulders. He loved how soft it felt against his lips.

“It has changed. For all of us. All we can do is face it together. The Archivist will know what to do when he gets back.”

“I’m not brave like you. I’m not a fighter.”

Andre chuckled softly.

“Oh, Magnus! None of us are fighters! Who amongst us has ever had to fight before? I’m as much at a loss as you.”

Magnus spun around in his arms, and Andre gazed down into his deep blue eyes. They were big eyes, and he saw all of his life inside them.

“But you’re an Alpha. You’re strong and fierce. Brave. Not like us.”

Andre bent over slightly and planted a deep kiss on his mate’s plump, wet lips. Just the taste of him sent a shiver of excitement through his muscular body.

“That is about as dangerous as I get!”

Andre saw the confusion cloud Magnus’s sparkling eyes as he spoke.

“Dangerous? What’s so dangerous about a kiss?”

Andre smiled.

“A kiss is the most dangerous of weapons. Just a simple kiss can inflame the heart, and cause passions to ravage through unsuspecting kissers. A kiss is filled with danger because within it is a promise. A promise of love. And there is nothing more dangerous than love. And a kiss will always lead to more.”

A sly grin split across Magnus’s smooth face.

“No…oh no…we’re supposed to be keeping watch…”

“We are…watching…and kissing…”

Andre slipped his hand down Magnus’s hard chest and thrilled to the feel of his rippled, tight stomach beneath his shirt. He was even more thrilled to feel the hardness which jumped inside his trousers.

“That’s not kissing…”

“No, but it’s even more dangerous.”

Magnus groaned as Andre slipped his hand down inside the waist of his trousers.

“That’s a dangerous weapon you have there, Magnus. I’m not sure that’s allowed.”

Andre’s voice was thick and gravelly, and as he felt the hard, sticky flesh of his mate’s cock in his fingers, his voice became a growl.

“You see what a kiss can lead to…”

“Andre…stop it…we’re meant to be on watch…”

“Oh, I’m watching…trust me on that…”

Andre smashed his lips against Magnus’s mouth. Heat filled his aching body as his muscles yearned to feel his mate against him.
