These pictures show the beginnings of the development at Port Charlotte. The above picture shows U.S. 41 in the foreground with a welcome center at the bottom middle of the picture. A new housing development is shown on the left-hand side of the picture with a lake in the middle of the circle development. The below picture shows the creation of Martin Drive, Gregory Drive, and Waterway Circle with new housing starting in 1957. U.S. 41 is in the foreground with the Peace River at the top of the picture. The Martin Drive exit off of U.S. 41 is shown at the bottom of the picture, and the beginnings of Easy Street are seen as the second exit off of U.S. 41 near the bottom middle of the picture.
