Horses were erotic for him back then, when they first married and before. He was content with life and she never was. That was always the basic problem. Heâd do equine-talk when horny:
âThe first horse arose here sixty million years ago, on these very plains.â
Sheâd nipped him like a cat.
âThe Dawn Horse was born here.â
âRight here?â
He moved her hand where he wanted it. She pawed him like a bear. She didnât know she was a horse yet.
âThe Dawn Horse at dawn was the size of a modern fox.â
He had a jelly donut on his upper thigh. âThe Dawn Horse arose,â he said, âsame time as the First Primate, and each had five toes. The horse lost his toes one by one, ten million years later had only four, and in twenty only three.â
âWhereâd they go? The toes?â
âThey retreated up the leg.â He moved her hand again. âAs the leg stretched out. As the grass evolved. The tall grass was farther off and required more walking.â
âAh.â
âA longer neck to compensate for the legs.â
âAh.â
âTo reach and eat.â
âYou should have been a professor or something.â She reached the donut. âWasting your talent in this cow town.â
She mounted him like a horse.
âDonât get sappy.â
âNot sappy. Just fact.â
She wasnât weak at all back then. Nothing was weak in her.
âThe Dawn Horse developed a firm but flexible back to suit the Dawn Primateâs round, small, fine little ass.â
âAll his travel plans.â
âYes.â
âThe horse obliging him.â
âYes.â
âAnd the tiny man found wide purple leaves.â
âWhat for?â he said. Why ask? Heâd lost control of his story now.
âFor saddle blankets, of course.â
âOf course,â he laughed and jelly spewed.
She licked the jelly off his chin, a lizard. âThe little primate dug earthworms, cut them down into long strips. Strong material.â
âAnd the saddle?â he said, always giving in.
âGood question.â
âFor a saddle,â he said, retaking the reins, âhe slashed a scale from a spotted lizardâs wing.â
âPretty nice saddle,â she said.
âThe best.â
âThe lizard let him cut his wing?â she said. âWhy would he?â
This was the messy part, the bodies making a third thing together, the non-sense of sex, animal collusion.
âHeâd been bitten badly before,â he gasped. âHe could take it.â
âBitten when?â
âA fight to the death with the first bird.â
âAh!â she said and sheâd laughed and fucked him and fucked him and thatâs what she was doing now.
