Sixteen: Aiden

It was my turn to take Parker on a date. After I kinda ruined the date at the fancy restaurant, I figured I should make it up to him. Granted, we had a great night after that on the beach, but we still hadn’t really gone on a stereotypical date. I couldn’t promise him anything grand like what he was used to, but maybe it was time he experienced regular things a bit more.

“So where are we going?” Parker asked for the third time as we drove through town.

“I told you,” I replied with a smirk. “I’m taking you to the dog park.”

“Har har.”

“We’re gonna stop at the pet store and get you a collar first, though. I don’t want to lose you if you get free.”

“You’re so funny.”

“Are you microchipped, by the way?”

“Haha, look at me, I’m a hooman, and all I do is eat pizza and make anxiety,” Parker replied, holding his arms up like a dog imitating a human. “See how it feels?”

“Alright, alright,” I laughed. “I’m just trying to get it out of my system. I can’t quite believe I’m dating a werewolf.”

“And I can’t believe I’m dating a human,” he sighed. “But here we are.”

“Does that happen a lot?”

“No,” he said simply, staring out the window at the rain-filled streets around us. “Never.”

“Why’s that?”

“I… I’m not sure.” He shrugged. “Just doesn’t, I guess.”

“Oh. Okay.”

It wasn’t the first time I’d asked him that question. However, his answer was always the same. I had a feeling there was a bit more to it than that, but I didn’t want to press him. Whatever it was, it didn’t matter. Besides, it wasn’t like he had anything to worry about. Money could fix anything.

“So, are you going to tell me where we’re going?”

“Not until we get there.”

“You’re impossible.” He nudged my shoulder with his elbow. “I like it.”

“You must really like yourself then too.”

“Where is all this sass coming from tonight?” Parker laughed incredulously.

“I don’t know,” I laughed. “Just feeling really good, I guess.”

Parker took my hand. He lifted it to his lips, placing a small kiss on the back of my hand. “I’m glad to hear it. I really like it when you smile.”

Heat flushed to my cheeks. “Th-Thanks.”

He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear. “And I really like it when you moan my name.”

“And we’re here!” I said, my face so red I could see it in the rearview mirror.

Parker pulled away with a smile, taking a quick glance at the sudden tension in my jeans. He leaned forward, looking out through the rain-splattered window at the neon sign above us.

“Roller skating?!” he cried. “They still have these things around?”

“Heck yeah,” I replied, reaching back and pulling my blades out from the back seat. “I used to come here all the time during high school.”

He stared at my rollerblades like they were from an alien planet. “How do you even stand up on those?”

“Don’t worry. I’ll walk you through it.”

“I’m gonna die here, aren’t I?”

“Didn’t you say werewolves have healing powers?”

“Yeah,” he scoffed.
