Using the image as a reference, add light yellow details across both beetles, taking particular care to paint in the legs on the right.

Use dark yellow, light pink, dark pink, orange and red evenly across the beetles as per my design.

Adding the khaki green really ties the piece together, but take your time, especially around the leaves on the beetle to the right. Add the bright pops of turquoise.

Step 3: Adding Details to the Bodies

The design should dry pleasingly flat and even and the next step is to add some contrasting dots and dashes. We will use a whole range of colors to more evenly distribute the colors across the shell.

On the beetle to the left, use the orange to paint in little line details on the petals of the large flowers and little dotty centers on the smaller ones. Use the red to paint in tiny leaf patterns on the orange areas and on the pink leaves. Add tiny dark yellow leaves to the head.

On the right beetle, paint in a few little red strokes as veins on the leaves and the petals of the top flower, cream strokes on the lower turquoise leaves and orange petals of the most central flower. Add tiny dark yellow line details on the head and center cream-colored drop shapes. Use the turquoise to add a row of little lines on the cream section of body, dots on the little flower heads and veins on all of the tiny cream stem leaves.
