Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa Day Spa
Offline map Google map ( 212-265-3182; www.caudalie-usa.com; 1 W 58th St; 10am-8pm Mon & Tue, 9am-9pm Wed-Fri, 9am-7pm Sat, 10am-6pm Sun; N/Q/R to Fifth Ave-59th St; F to 57th St) Wine therapy gets holistic at this luxe French spa, where treatments harness the antioxidant properties of grapes and vine leaves. Treatments include a Crushed Cabernet Scrub ($145) and a Wine Maker’s Massage ($195). Our favorite is the Red Vine Bath ($75), yours to enjoy in a cherrywood barrel tub. You’ll find the spa on the fourth floor of the Plaza Hotel (Click here ).
24 Hour Fitness Gym
Offline map Google map (www.24hourfitness.com; 153 E 53rd St btwn Lexington & Third Aves; day pass $25; gym 24hr, pool 5am-11pm; ; E/M to Lexington Ave-53rd St) Work up a sweat at this smart, well-equipped chain, which includes top-of-the-range cardio equipment, weights, classes (including weights, boot camp and pilates), a sauna, steamroom and whirlpool. This branch also has a lap pool. Check the website for information on all three Manhattan branches.
Lucky Strike Bowling Alley
Offline map Google map ( 646-829-0170; www.bowlluckystrike.com; 624 W 42nd St; individual games from $12, shoe rental $6; noon-2am Sun-Thu, to 4am Fri & Sat; A/C/E to 42nd St-Port Authority Bus Terminal) One of the world’s few bowling alleys with a dress code, Lucky Strike has pricey drinks, plush lounge fittings and a fashion-conscious crowd – which makes the whole experience more akin to a nightclub than a bowling alley. Reservations are recommended.
New York Knicks Basketball
Offline map Google map ( 212-465-6073, tickets 866-858-0008; www.nyknicks.com; Madison Square Garden, Seventh Ave btwn 31st & 33rd Sts; tickets $13-330; A/C/E, 1/2/3 to 34th St-Penn Station) Occasional scandal aside, NYC loves its blue-and-orange basketball team. Indeed, the first song to popularize hip-hop gives it up for the beloved Knickerbockers (Sugar Hill Gang sings ‘I have a color TV so I can watch the Knicks play basketball’). Yet, despite big crowds of Spike Lee and 18,999 others at the Garden, the Knicks haven’t won a championship since 1973.
