BIOPHILIC DESIGN APPLICATIONS

Striking examples of biophilic design could easily fill a large book. Here I provide only a brief review of notable examples over the years, but especially in recent times, as well as an overview of some lessons we might learn from these applications. Both historic and contemporary instances of biophilic design will be showcased, rather than presenting in-depth case studies of current projects. In selecting only a few applications to discuss in this chapter, many outstanding examples of the application of biophilic design will necessarily be omitted. The examples included here are not meant as a judgment on the worthiness or particular relevance of various applications. The choices are often simply a function of my awareness, background, and preferences.
