The butterflies fill my stomach again, and the heat flushes my cheeks. No one’s been this nice to me in a long time, and I guess I just like the attention. Her luscious brown hair bounces, and her long legs carry her with such grace. Sometimes it’s hard not to look.

I turn back in my seat and try to peel back my overgrown smile.

CHAPTER EIGHT

VIVIAN

I don’t think I’ve ever had an assistant last this long, but I like this one. Today’s the first day of her second week already. I couldn’t stop thinking about that this weekend. I wanted to do something nice for her; I think that’s what a good boss would do. This morning I stopped by the farmer’s market on my way in, and picked up a bouquet of dahlias for her desk, and some thank you chocolates. What woman doesn’t like chocolate?
