A MOTHERâS FOUNDATION
I built my family
and my family built a world.
It was such a site to see
Anywhere in Alexandria
Royal buildings
Palaces
Public Buildings by the Sea
Monuments to my three
Beautiful boys
Towering men
Builders all
From my own tiny womb
Part of my flesh
A motherâs pride
Three pillars standing strong
Big Men
Proud Men
Strong Men
To whom no challenge
is too big
Armies of artisans
And laborers bow
At their feet
Princes and Potentates
Court them
Alexandriaâs
Great Builder Brothers
And they honor me
Let me guide them
Accept my counsel
They come to me with questions
mama this?
Mother that?
Should I do this?
Should I do that?
I always say
if it were me, I would do this.
If it were me, I would not do that.
Sometimes I say
beware of this one
he is too sly
Or get close to that one
avoid this one
he has an evil heart
or dark soul
flatter this one
he can do you great good
My boysâ women are gentle
Loving and true
Obedient to my sons
as my boys are good
and obedient with me
Then one horrible day
the Gods turn against me
One dark moment the light
of my life went out
never to return.
My baby died.
The littlest one
so gentle and fair
I wish I could say
he died in his motherâs arms
with a motherâs love
comforting him
but no
he fell far away
I heard this one fateful day
His servant comes and speaks
such awful words
âyour son is deadâ
That is how he said it
âyour son is dead.â
How do you say that to a mother?
I had him beat
For being so ill-mannered
And cast into the street
That servant ripped out my heart
that day
And he had not even bothered to wash his feet
He killed all that was good that day
His words broke my soul
And it is broken still
How could it not?
Infants die
That we women understand
But a big strong powerful man
To join the Gods
No mother is meant
To lose a son like that
People say âlook at your other boys
you have much to live forâ
but all I can see is sorrow
A mother lives to love and guide
Her sons
These towering, big men from my
womb grew to build a city
I built a strong foundation.
Three beautiful sons
I gave to the world
When one was taken
My World was taken from me.
There is no reason to go on.
Their constructions now torment
my heart and eyes
grotesque monuments
to a motherâs broken heart.
Another principle of past life exploration is the importance to being open to literally whatever you experience without judgement. Once I spend the better part of an hour reliving a past life as an insect. I know some people who write about past lives say this doesnât happen â that we always incarnate as people â but I settled back and enjoyed the sight of blades of grass looking like trees and was amazed at how the surface tension in a drop of water holds it as a dome of fluid from the perspective of an insect crawling around it. And you must be also prepared for some lives to be the exact opposite of the way you are in this one. The next life I will share with you was one of those.
