Later, Annie and Ethan strolled down the hallway outside Montana's apartment, making their way to the elevator while considering the facts of the case.

"You think he's clean?" Ethan asked.

"About as clean as you and I are, meaning, completely dirty. But the cigarettes⁠—"

"They don't match," Ethan finished Annie's sentence for her. "The one we found on the roof was a Marlboro. He smokes Camels."

"Maybe he doesn't smoke them all the time?"

"Could be. You think he's intentionally misleading us?" Ethan asked.

"He didn't strike me that way," Annie said. "He's nothing if not direct. And he didn't know we were coming today. He already had them on hand."

A ringing sound emanated from Ethan's pocket. He pulled out a black FBI-issued burner phone.

"Yes?" He waited, listening to the voice on the other end. "Really? And you're sure? Degree of certainty?" Again, the voice on the line muttered. "Got it. Thank you."

Ethan hung up the phone, sliding it back into his pocket just as the elevator arrived.

"We've got an I.D. on the fingerprints from Tony's closet," he said, just as Annie was reaching for the lobby button. "You might want to send us to the tenth floor."

"Hathaway?" she smiled, happy to finally see one of her suspicions proven correct during this investigation. "Excellent."

Annie hit the button for the tenth floor, the elevator doors closing gently behind them.
