Bunny, Bella Rose, and Cameron entered the old Maplewood Haven Library, now the Maplewood Haven Rare Books Museum. Two workers toiled on the light fixtures, and apart from them, the trio had the place to themselves. The entrance was grand, adorned with walls covered in frames holding old newspapers dating back to 1912, the year Maplewood Haven was founded by Frank Grove the third and his wife, Helena.

Bunny scrutinized a newspaper, the very first one ever circulated in the new town. It detailed Frank Grove's childhood up until the founding of the town, accompanied by a faded photo of him and his wife.

"This place is going to be amazing," Bella Rose exclaimed, admiring an old record player.

"I'll say," Bunny agreed. "Charlene says she'll be ready for the grand opening next month. Upstairs is where the library is going to be. Charlene loves books. She's been spending much of her free time hunting down first editions of the classics and whatever she can get her hands on."

"I'm impressed."

"Charlene's an impressive woman," Bunny said. "Come on upstairs. I'm sure we'll find her there."

With Bunny taking the lead, the trio ascended the stairs and entered another room, slightly smaller than the first but already housing a substantial number of books. A few were securely locked away in glass cases, and it was evident they were much older and likely more valuable than the ones on the shelves.

"Charlene?" Bunny called out. "Charlene, it's Bunny DuBois."

Charlene poked her head out of a room, smiling. "I'll be out in just a second. I'm placing a bid on the writings of Thomas Paine. The time's almost up."

The group used the few minutes to browse the accessible books until Charlene emerged from the room, closing the door behind her.

"Did you win?"

She groaned. "No. At the last second, someone outbid me by a dollar. A single dollar, can you believe that? I hate when that happens."

"How much did it go for?" Cameron asked.

"Sixty."

"Wow, only sixty dollars?" Bella Rose gasped. "I would have thought rare books would go for much more."

"She meant sixty thousand," Bunny said.

"Sixty thou—wait, what? You're pulling my leg. You were going to pay sixty thousand dollars for a book?"

Charlene chuckled. "Some books are worth it. The works of Thomas Paine were quite popular back in those days, even our own. After all, we do still study his work in school. Additionally, there is something... enlightening... about holding a piece of history."

"I'm stunned," Bella Rose said.

Bunny smiled. "Speaking of school, Charlene, this is Bella Rose Williams, a friend of mine from eons ago. We went to grammar school, all the way to high school together. She recently moved back from California."

Charlene extended her hand. "A pleasure to meet you, Bella Rose. How does it feel to be back home?"

"It's a bit... nostalgic, actually. I was in my junior year when we had to move. I wasn't the least bit happy. I'm pretty sure I was a brat about it. But now, I'm happy to be back, although still saddened.
