Moshke Has a Plan

Even on his way to Chaim Chosid’s house Moshke had already come up with a plan. And not only one but several at once.

One was to dress up as a monk; another was to disguise himself as a beggar; yet another was to go to the monastery, pass himself off as a functionary of the excise tax office, lead the Jewish girl out, carry her off on his horse, and flee with her to the end of the world.

But once he had thoroughly considered all these plans, he realized how foolish they were and rejected them all. Then he came up with an entirely new plan, one that was at once dangerous and grand.
