“Is she going to be okay?”

That was approximately the 48 millionth time boss asked that question. My reply came immediately since my mouth was already in autopilot mode. “Yes, boss.”

“Is she really going to be fine?”

“Yes, boss.”

Gio rubbed Sara’s palms with his bandaged hands and stared at her. He had taken a good beating from those damn Alliance members, but he seemed unfazed by his injuries and was more focused on Sara. He had been acting like a psycho for the past three hours that Sara had been asleep.

Yes, she was just sleeping and was currently in one of the Triad’s medical facility. The doctors had already assured our boss that her vitals were stable and that she just needed to rest. I wasn’t sure why he was acting like all the doctors were fucking liars and I was the one who was most credible in assessing Sara’s condition. *sigh*

After this, I bet Sara wouldn’t be able to walk on the face of the planet without an army of escorts. I could already picture her guards doing an elaborate exercise of sweeping every area for bombs and whatnots whenever she was about to go to a certain place. I was actually looking forward to the spectacular fight between the two once our boss breaks the news to her. Hahahahaha!

I could understand his peculiar behavior, though. After seeing Sara inside a casket, I bet our boss is in an emotional turmoil. That Jang Iljoo guy really screwed his mind, shattering him with a vision of something that would undoubtedly torture him.

“She looks really pale. Is she going to be okay?”

OMG, I’m going to fucking lose my mind!

“Yes, boss,” I muttered while pouting.

Suddenly, the door opened and Daddy Youngjae entered. I gave him the most pitiful look I could muster.

Get me away from here, Daddy Youngjae!

“Boss, the Dragon Head has called for an emergency meeting at the Hung Gates,” he announced.

“I’m not leaving Sara,” Gio replied firmly.

“The Dragon Head has already assumed that, but your right-hand man must attend it in your behalf. Almost all of the Triad members have already gathered.”

Thank heavens for Daddy Youngjae!

“Okay. Hyung, attend the meeting in my place,” boss instructed without giving us a second glance.

“YES, BOSS!” I quickly answered.

As soon as we were outside and out of earshot, I jumped at Daddy Youngjae’s back and wrapped my arms and legs around his upper torso.

“MY HERO!” I squealed.

“HYUNG!”

WE WERE INSIDE what looked like a Roman theater, with stadium-style seating in a half-circle facing a big platform. The place was called the ‘Hung Gates’, and it was where a lot of Triad passage rites were held.

The first time I was here was during our initiation from Blue Lanterns to 49ers. Whenever Gio got promoted into a higher Triad rank, we gathered in this secluded place together with the other Triad members to undergo the traditional promotion ceremony. The Hung Gates is a very significant place for a Triad member since it holds a lot of memories for us.
