Glucagon (GLOO-kah-gon) is produced by the alpha cells of the pancreas when there are reduced levels of glucose in the blood. Glucagon raises the level of blood sugar by stimulating the liver to convert stored glycogen act to glucose which is then released into the blood.

The Pineal Gland

The pineal (PIN-ee-al) body otherwise called the pineal gland is a tiny endocrine gland that is found in the central part of the brain.

The pineal gland produces hormone melatonin (mel-ah-TOH-nin) that regulate the cycle of sleep and wakefulness in the circadian rhythm. The physiological activities that happen in the course of 24 hours are known as circadian rhythm.
