Mia sighed as Liam’s lips coasted down her throat, sending goosebumps skittering across her skin in the most delicious way. The man knew how to get her going from zero to a hundred in two seconds flat. Not that she was complaining. After their little tryst in the closet a couple of days ago they decided, by mutual silent agreement, they wouldn’t go there again at work. It was too easy to get caught. The fallout was that Liam had barely walked into Mia’s apartment before his hands and mouth were all over her. Again, she wasn’t complaining.

The phone rang and she pulled away, but Liam wouldn’t let her go.

“Leave it,” he said, his raspy voice heating her skin.

“I can’t,” Mia replied reluctantly. “It’s Peyton. I’ve been avoiding her all week and if I don’t answer, she’ll come over to check on me.”

Liam groaned but let her go, at least enough so she could answer the phone. He kept his arms around her, though and his lips continued to tease the soft skin of her neck as she tried to concentrate on sounding normal for Peyton.

“Hey Peyton, what’s up?”

“Are you okay?” Peyton replied. “You sound out of breath.”

“Oh, I was just exercising.”

“Exercising?”

“It’s not like I don’t exercise,” Mia replied, trying to fight Liam off unsuccessfully.

“Um, o-kay,” Peyton replied. Mia was lying and she suspected Peyton knew it. Mia didn’t exercise, not if she could help it. Dancing at a club and an occasional yoga YouTube video was all the exercise Mia wanted or needed until she started hooking up with Liam. Now he was all the exercise she wanted or needed.

“So what’s up?” Mia asked, suppressing a groan as Liam found his way under her shirt, his hand skating across her ribs as it headed up toward her boob.

“I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever,” she said. “Flynn is going out with the guys tonight and I thought you might want to meet me somewhere for a girls’ night.”

“Flynn’s going out with the guys?” Mia asked, trying to look at Liam over her shoulder.

He winced and tipped his head back, groaning softly. “I forgot,” he mouthed silently to her.

“Yeah. So what do you say? Wanna get a drink somewhere?”

Liam shook his head but Mia couldn’t say no to Peyton. She was her best friend and they really hadn’t seen each other very much lately. And Liam needed to go out with the guys or they would get suspicious—if they weren’t already—about where he was spending all his time.

“Sure,” she said, and Liam mock-growled before going back to attacking her neck with his kisses. “How about you pick me up in a half hour?”

“Perfect,” she replied and hung up.

Mia dropped the phone and leaned back against Liam, already regretting saying yes to Peyton. But they needed to keep up appearances or their secret would be blown. Mia didn’t like lying to Peyton, but it was only for a couple more weeks. She could do that.

“You can’t go,” Liam said, his arms tightening around her.
