CHAPTER 6
MORGAN
At my age, it was entirely weird to be dressed in a suit and headed into a middle school dance, but if it got me with Hannah for a while, Iâd do what I had to do. Even crash a middle school prom. Thankfully, I knew Jed, the principal, and had an in with him after quietly taking care of an inconvenient ârashâ off the books.
Hannah didnât know Iâd arranged to help out. It had taken a couple phone calls to track down Jed after Hannah and I left the gym this afternoon. He was actually thrilled to have another chaperone because one of the parents had dropped out. So here I was about to surprise my girlâ¦and she was my girl, even if we hadnât made it official.
My gaze scanned the gymnasium as I walked in. I immediately honed in on her, in a pretty blue dress that shaped to her mouthwatering figure while still remaining modest enough for a school function. It was no wonder some asshole was trying to chat her up while they stood next to the refreshment table. Oh hell to the no. I didnât care if he was a fellow teacher or a studentâs dad. I was ending the conversation.
Beelining for her, I wrapped an arm around her waist then pressed a kiss to her temple.
âSorry Iâm late. I, umâ¦emergency at the hospital.â
Yeah, we both knew that wasnât true, but this guy didnât. I looked over at him and extended my hand. âDr. Morgan Liddel, Hannahâs boyfriend.â
âStan Atkinson,â he muttered out before he shook my hand and walked away.
âYou going to pee on my leg next?â she asked me after heâd departed.
âHe looked like he was bothering you. And no. A guy canât just whip out his dick at a school dance. Geez, Hannah.â
I pulled her toward the dance floor, and thatâs where we stayed, except for doing rounds to check on what the students were doing.
âI never went to dances or even prom while I was in school,â I told her as we swayed near the edge of the dance floor later that evening. Tonight had been wonderful, considering how things could have gone. Iâd gotten to be at her side as we patrolled and held her close while we danced and talked throughout the night. Sure weâd left room for a very, very skinny person between us, but occasionally, our bodies had brushed. In the scheme of things, barring more than a hundred kids around us, it was a pretty fucking good night. âSo what do kids usually do afterward?â
She shrugged. âMiddle schoolers? Go home and play video games. Now, if they were high schoolers leaving prom⦠Park?â
I couldnât hold back my growl as I imagined her doing that. I suddenly wanted to track down some asshole and grind him into the dirt. How dare he even consider touching my sweet Hannah? I knew that wasnât rational, but I didnât care.
âNot me,â she exclaimed. âGeez, I donât think Iâve ever seen you go so close to being the Hulk.
