Chapter 8
âWreaves!â Althea yelled as I clutched my staff and summoned my power.
Even in the face of danger, I was impressed with how quickly each one of my monster girls armed themselves and poised themself to attack.
Kali flew into the air to get high ground as Ash transformed into a dragonling. Her green scales glistened as she shot into the sky beside the nymph. Cleo raced up into the trees with insane speed before she swung her crossbow off her shoulder ready to attack from above. Myra wielded her blade while Altheaâs palm glowed with green light, and I connected to the power of the dragon stone.
The wreaves howled again just as I focused on my shocking spell and sent a flash of golden light toward the beast. I felt the ripple of power through my whole body as the magic connected with the wolf.
My spell caused the creature to jolt violently backward as it whimpered in pain, and it went flying into a nearby tree.
Cleo hissed as she shot a bolt straight down into the belly of the fallen wreave, and the gray wolf gargled as its eyes rolled back into its head. The creature died just before four more of the fuckers sped around the corner with drool falling from their open mouths,
I knew that slowing these fuckers down was going to be vital for defeating them, and I mustered up every ounce of strength I had as I released my freezing spell on the two beasts on the left.
My magic stopped the bastards in their tracks before they could get close to us. I grunted at the effort it took to hold such huge creatures in place, but it didnât feel as brutal as in the past.
Kali squealed as she shot her pistol at one of the frozen wreaves and managed to hit it directly in the jugular. I was amazed at how precise the nymphâs shooting had gotten, and the bullet wedged deep into the grizzled skin. Blood seeped out as the light started to leave the bastardâs eyes.
Ash bore down on the other beast and sent a river of orange flame down into its face. Her fiery weapon tore over the wolfâs flesh and burned it to a fucking crisp.
Muscle and bone were revealed as the skin was burned away, and I dropped my hold on the spell as the monster died.
Althea had launched her magic at the other two fuckers on the right and created a layer of purple fog around their heads. They yelped as their red eyes blinked furiously, and the wolves spun around as if they had lost all sense of direction.
âDisorientation mist,â the witch snarled, and I was blown away by yet another display of her magical knowledge.
I summoned a ball of golden fire and flung it toward one of the trapped beasts. It was grossly satisfying to watch the heat ripple over the wolf and melt away any trace of the creature it used to be.
Ash cheered excitedly to see my fire power in action again as she made a move for the fourth wreave.
