Toolset—The Three Ps of Probing

Learning agile people are highly curious and often express this in new situations through readily asking questions. These are not just any questions, but inquiries that get them beneath the surface of the problem at hand and offer deeper insight into root causes.

The next time you find yourself in a challenging new situation, probe for insight by deliberately generating questions in these three areas:

PURPOSE: “Why …?”

PRACTICES: “How …?”

POSSIBILITIES: “What if …?”

Don’t limit yourself to just one round. Keep at it until you feel like you’ve gotten insight into the essence of the problem and started to uncover promising solutions.
