When they got back to Timothy Neville's house after a mostly silent ride home, Theodosia turned to Jory. "You want to come in? Have a bite to eat or something?"

"Of course I do," said Jory.

"But I can't. My two uncles are arriving tomorrow for Tuesday's funeral and I've got tons more legal mumbo jumbo to plow through." He grinned ruefully. "And I really hate to admit this, but I'm feeling awfully creaky and sore. What's really on my mind is going home and filling my bathtub with hot water."

"Then you might also want to brew up some meadowsweet tea," advised Theodosia.

"To drink?" asked Jory.

Theodosia gave him a look of commiseration. "To soak in."
