Chapter 14
Abby
âAre you sure you want to go through with this? Itâs not like they donât have enough help down there already,â Sloan said with a small smile. I knew she meant well, but it was hard for me to take her seriously at times. She hadnât been at the attack any more than I had been. In fact, she had her own protection right there at the club.
But, that didnât change the fact that these men were all family to each other. I learned that the hard when I showed up at the barbecue and Julian all but glared at me like I was poison. Sloan, however, had inserted herself into that family, and not only would there be no drawing her out, but I knew she had a fierce loyalty to them.
âYou had fun at the barbecue when you went, and you didnât think you were going to do that,â she reminded me. I sighed again. She did have a
with that one as well. I did have fun, except for the fact I felt like Julian hated me.
But, that wasnât her fault. She didnât have much to do with Julian besides the mutual friends the two of them had in common. If it wasnât for that, I couldnât help but question if the two of them would be friends at all.

Any guy who didnât play by the rules was asked to leave immediately. And if he didnât, well, he was made to leave, and it was as simple as that. I had men in my life who would back me up, not to mention Sloan and all her stripper friends.
âCome on, you havenât been the same since you and that guy have been hooking up,â she pressed. I knew she knew better than to use Julianâs name. She knew we werenât a real item, and she wanted to do what she could to support that. After all, I had done enough for her through the years â anything really to get a guy away from her she simply had to get away from.
Now, it was my turn for her to be there for me. And it was only right that I let her do it. Finally, it would do my some good to get out of the house. For as much time
