The God with a Lasa
But our Goddess is inclined to favor love, and joy, and happiness. She guards and cherishes her hidden children in this life and the next. In death she reveals the way to her communion, and in life she teaches them the magick of the Mystery of the Circle (which is set between the worlds of men and of the gods).
5. High Priestess stands at the west quarter and addresses Grove members:
Tana dwells now in the Realm of the Dread Lord of the Shadows. The world grows cold and lifeless. But let us not sorrow for this harsh season, for all is as it must be. Therefore, let us draw close to the Dark Lord and embrace Him. Let us find comfort in the knowledge of His Essence. Blessed be all in the name of the God.
Grove members respond:
Tanus protect us.
6. High Priest moves to the north, assuming the Slain God Posture (Figure 25, page 132).
7. A female who has been chosen as a "love offering" to the God is now presented to the High Priest. Female kneels beside the High Priestess at the north quarter.
8. High Priestess kneels, and touches High Priest on the shoulders and phallus with her left hand (tracing a triangle from his right shoulder, to left shoulder, then to phallus, and back to right shoulder).
High Priestess says:
0 Ancient One, Lord of the Shadows, approach and receive this sacred gift of love. Come you now among us! For now it is your Time of Power, 0 mighty Horned One. Lord of our Passions and Desires, come you among us!
We freely offer this lovely woman to you, for you delight in the beauty of womanhood. We welcome you with love and with trust. 0 Ancient One, come you among us!
There is now a moment of silence, as the God prepares to receive the female through the High Priest. They embrace, kiss, and hold each other for a few moments. Grove members will sing or chant during this time. High Priest will then release the female, who will anoint the High Priest's wand with essence oil, and then she will return to the assembled Grove.
9. High Priest assumes God Posture (Figure 25) in the north. High Priestess goes to him and lays her symbols and tools of rank at his feet, saying:
My Lord, I give my reign over to you, for I know now the pains of love.
High Priest takes up the symbols of the High Priestess and kisses them, then places them down at the north quarter. High Priest recites the Charge of the God:
Hear you all, the words of the God. By the fallen temple stone or in a forgotten glen, there shall you gather, all who seek to know my secret mysteries. I am He who guards and He who reveals all of these things.
I am the Lord of earth and sky, of rocky cliffs, and forests deep and darkened. I was there when the world was new, and I taught you to hunt and to gather plants for food.
