When Sheldon Simeon nearly won “Top Chef” Season 10 in 2012, the national spotlight shone brightly on Lahaina, where Simeon works as chef at Star Noodle, an Asian restaurant. The attention was long overdue; for years, South and West Maui have boasted some of the most celebrated chefs in the islands – chefs whose expertise, flair, and culinary creations are so great, diners often travel great distances to enjoy them. Like Chef Miguel Cedeno’s sushi at Sansei in Kapalua. Or the treats from chef Tylun Pang at Ko, in Wailea. There are so many delicious food options in this part of Hawaii that one could make an entire trip out of eating. The only downside is fitting into that bathing suit when it’s time to hit the beach.
