“Where’s Tyler?” Ember asked, walking into my kitchen.

“Upstairs,” I answered. “Admiring his work.”

She smiled slowly and dangerously. My eyes traveled the length of her, noticing how her eyes twinkled, her dimples. She exaggerated the swing in her hips when she walked over to me, mischief dancing in her eyes. She taunted me, aware of my eyes trailing her body and taking her sweet time. My arm snaked out and pulled her to me until her hands rested on my chest.

“Hi,” she whispered, rising on her toes. She pressed her lips to mine in a ghost of a kiss before pulling away with a grin. I buried my hand in her hair and kissed her for all the times I’d wanted to before. I kissed her with an urgency dipped in ideas that couldn’t become a reality with Tyler upstairs.

When she opened for me, I groaned, letting her tongue trace my lip and brush against mine. I pulled at her, pressing every soft, warm part of her against me. She released a breathy moan, her hands moving to grip the back of my neck, and she curved further into my cock. I grunted, and she smiled into the kiss, tugging my lip with her as she pulled away.

“Fuck. Em…” I groaned. She giggled, dropping her forehead to my shoulder. “Hi,” I said instead.

“How’d it go today?” she asked. She took my hand and pulled me to the couch. She laid her head on my shoulder and sat with her legs across mine.

“Good,” I said. “We got a lot of work done.”

“Did he ask about us?”

“Yeah.” I chuckled. “He tried to extort me for being cool about it.”

She laughed, rolling her eyes. “My little career criminal.”

“What do we do now?” she asked as I pushed a curl out of her eye.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I mean, what’s next? What are the rules?” I laughed, and she smacked my arm. “Don’t laugh. I’m serious.”

“There aren’t any, Em.”

“Then expect me to be bad. Really bad.”

I pulled her onto my lap. “I don’t know,” I whispered. “I’m pretty fucking happy right now, Em.” I kissed her temple, and she smiled, wrapping her arms around my neck.

“Well, yeah, because it’s just us right now.”

“It’s always going to be just us.”

“But what about restaurants and talking about the future? I’m still too young for that.” She snorted, elbowing me.

“I’m a year older than you, Em.” I scowled. “I don’t do that either. We don’t have to change. We’re still going to do all the stupid shit we do, except now, when I want to hold you, and touch you, and kiss you, I can.”

“Oh.” She sighed. “Bummer, I was looking forward to teaching me,” she whispered.

I groaned when she wiggled her hips in my lap. “You are trouble, you know that?”

“I’m starting to.” She leaned in.

“Say your goodbyes. I’m coming down.” Tyler yelled from upstairs, and we laughed. I loved that kid, but his timing could use some work.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” I said, and she nodded.
