Code opened the door of the bedroom and was met with the horrible odor of a young man. He remembered his own mother complaining about it at one time. There was something funky about a boy turning into a man and the smell he let off. He flipped on the light, frowning at what he saw. It was in complete contrast to the rest of the home.
The young man was face down, the pillow over his head. It appeared that his entire wardrobe was tossed around the room. Beside him were several pornographic magazines. On the bedside table was a bag of marijuana and a few pills. Code kicked the bed, and the boy groaned. When he didnât move, he gripped the sides of the mattress, yanking it until it was on the floor.
âHey! What the fuck?â he yelled. Jumping up in his gym shorts, he stared at the big man looking back at him. âWho the fuck are you? Ma!â
âYour ma is with my friend. Weâre here about your sister.â The boy immediately looked away, swallowing as he did. He grabbed a t-shirt, pulling it over his head. Code knew something was wrong.
âWhat did you do to her?â
âNothing! I didnât do anything. Sheâs such a fucking baby. I was just havinâ fun with my friends, thatâs all. We were just havinâ fun.â
âWho was having fun?â
âLook, it was just me and a few friends. They thought she was hot and were willing to pay to see her dance in front of us. She got bent out of shape when I asked her to do it in her panties and bra. Not like I asked her to do it nude or something,â he laughed.
Code open-handed slapped the boy. He fell to his knees, looking up with anger but also tears in his eyes.
âYou forced her to leave. Now, sheâs missing in New Orleans, and we fear sheâs dead,â he snarled. âGet up.â
The boy didnât move, just staring at him.
âI said, get the fuck up, or you wonât like what I do next.â Standing, Code gripped his neck, shoving him out into the living room.
âWhatâs going on?â asked Ms. Eno.
âTell her,â said Code. The boy just shook his head, but his mother stepped forward. âTell her, or I will, and you wonât like it.â
âItâs nothing! Okay, itâs nothing. You know how Erica is. She got all pissy when my friends and I were havinâ a party. We just asked her to dance for us.â
âIn her bra and panties,â growled Code.
His mother stared at him, gasping as she covered her mouth.
âHow could you? How could you do that to your sister?â she asked. âDid you touch her? Did you touch your sister?â
âWhat? No, thatâs sick,â he said, shaking his head.
âIâve put up with your shit since you graduated, but no more. You have two days to find a job. I donât care what kind of job it is, but find a job. Then I give you one month to get out. Iâm done with you.
