Well, another new book. I used up the other one in four months. I hope this lasts longer. I went down town with Fanny today. We just hammered around. Not doing much of anything. When we were waiting at Bernie’s for a street car, a couple of cute boys passed by in a car. They smiled, and we did like wise. Accordingly, they went around the block and came back. They did that four times. The fourth time, just as they were passing, they glanced back at us. Not looking where they were going, they naturally ran into another car. We got a big kick out of that. To think that we were the cause of a wreck.

We went to a show tonight. Not so bad.

Sunday, July 18

I drove the Ford over to Marjie’s, and we went for a ride. Daddy said I could use it when I had an errand to do. Not bad—that. I wish something exciting would happen. This dull life is getting on my nerves. I want my darling, sweet, adorable MICKY for the plain and simple reason that I love him!!!!!!

Monday, July 19

I played tennis with Fanny this morning all morning. Met some cute boys up at the courts. Came home. Ate lunch. Took the Ford and drove down town and bumped into a car. Did something to the carburetor. Came home and got Joe. Took him around paper route. Ford baulked [sic] on hill and wouldn’t come up, so had to resort to street car. Much to the conductor’s amusement. Ate dinner. Read. And that constitutes the day’s excitement. Damn!! I’m beginning to rebel. I crave adventures. I want to live. Not merely exist.
