The Fuxi order consists of reading the sixty-four hexagrams from left to right in the highest row of the segregation diagram. For example, the first hexagram is the leftmost one. It has six Yin steps below it, and hence the lines are all Yin, corresponding to the Hexagram EARTH. The second one in the sequence has six Yin lines followed by a Yang, and corresponds to the Hexagram LOSS.
As a convenient notation, let us represent Yin by 0, and Yang by 1. A hexagram is then represented by a string of six binary digits that are either 0 or 1. The first few hexagrams in Fuxi order are shown in Fig. 5.
