Zipper panel. To determine height, measure the height of the cushion and add 2". To find the cut panel width, measure the cushion’s current zipper and add 2". The zipper and panel should wrap around the bottom corners of the cushion by at least 3" on each side to make it easier to insert the cushion into the finished cover.

Back Cushion

Boxing. Measure the height of the cushion and add 1". To find the finished cut width, measure the remainder of the cushion perimeter, minus the bottom zipper panel (up one side, across the top, and down the other side). Add 4" to this measurement. If this measurement exceeds the width of the fabric, you will need to piece the boxing from multiple panels (see Panel Piecing Tips).
