MANOR MOTEL. By the late 1960s, the El Gay Motor Court had become the Gay Manor. In later years, it was known as the Manor Motel. David and Maryann Maryott of Bethesda, Maryland, pictured below, purchased the business in 1990. At that time, there were 17 units and two cottages. The Maryotts sold the motel in 2004 but continued to manage it for another year until it was sold again. The Manor Motel was torn down in 2010 and replaced by large houses. CAHOON’S MARKET AND COTTAGES. Ray V. and Dorothy Cahoon and Ray’s brother, Charlie Cahoon, purchased Evans Place in 1962, transforming it into Cahoon’s Variety/Market and Cottages. The cottages include 10 two-, three-, and four-bedroom cottages and two efficiency units.
