“Are you comfortable?” I ask Farnaz, as I cover us with a blanket. We’re back in my bed, but I’ve left the door to the balcony open, so we can hear the waves.

“I’m perfect.” She tells me as she peppers my neck with kisses. “I think my vag is out of commission for a while, but I have no regrets.”

I shake my head at her and she laughs. How can I feel like miss her if she’s still here? How can she feel so essential if I’ve only known her for a few hours? I don’t have answers to any of it. But I do know I need to rein this in. I can’t bombard her with needy requests. And still I know for sure, I want more time with her.

I hold her tighter, and she snuggles into me before breaking the comfortable—if slightly angsty—silence. “Were you serious about me coming to visit you in the North Pole?

There’s no calming down my heart when I hear that or tamping down the sappy grin on my lips. “Extremely.”

She pushes up to give me a soul meltingly sweet kiss and then burrows into me with a contented sigh. “I might take you up on that Santa.”

I’m pretty sure the sappy grin is still on my lips as sleep finally takes me under.
