‘There was a political event at the Capitol Hilton yesterday,’ Vlad rapped into his phone when he was in his car. ‘I want a list of everyone who was there. Names. Photographs. Everything.’

‘Da,’ his cyber team leader told him.

‘Problem?’ Denisov met his eyes in the mirror.

‘Possibly,’ Vlad rubbed his eyes and briefed his deputy.

‘What Taylor said, that’s important too.’

‘Da.’ He came to a decision. ‘We have to deal with Cain Hahn.’

‘The Capitol Police officer?’

‘Da.’

‘Permanently?’

‘Da. We can’t risk having him around. Not with that reward repeated on TV screens every day. Our men who took her away?’

‘They’re back in Russia,’ Denisov assured him and started whistling.

Vlad couldn’t help grinning. He knew why his lieutenant was cheerful.

There was more killing on the horizon.
