DIRECTIONS

PREP THE WOOD: With the orbital sander, sand the furring strips with medium-grit and then fine-grit sandpaper. (See technique tips on here.) Clean the newly sanded strips and the piece of underlayment plywood with the tack cloth. Set the furring strips to the side.

Using the small paintbrush or paint roller, paint the underlayment board with a layer of primer. Allow the primer coat to dry, according to the directions.

With fine-grit sandpaper, lightly sand by hand the primed surface of the underlayment board to smooth out any small bubbles or bumps. Remove the dust with the tack cloth.

Using the dense foam paint roller, paint the underlayment board with a layer of black chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to dry, according to the directions. Add a second coat of chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to cure, following the directions, before moving on to the next steps.
