The sun is rising as I leave Gabrielâs building. I couldâve stayed to beg him to understand why I was running, but to be honest, I need space to sort everything out. I need to figure out this situation with my mother, and with everything I saw on that boat, maybe keeping him at a distance is safer.
At least until I figure this out.
Iâm scared to lose him, but Iâm banking on him, feeling the earth-shattering moment we had, and not giving up on me so easily. Itâs all I have right now.
When I come back to him, I will be different, and my decisions will be final. He doesnât deserve my secrets or reservations.
I park my car outside of my childhood home and watch the sun rise. The sky slowly turns from black to blue, and when the sun steals the last vestiges of night, I get out of my car.
The walk up to the gate is slow, but I pause suddenly when I see it slightly ajar, the rusted hinges squeaking in the slight breeze. I stop at the large, rusted iron gate and inspect the hinges, noting it probably ceased the last time she tried to close it. Which works out perfectly for me.
I squeeze my body through the opening and begin my walk up the driveway. This time, the sight of overgrown lawns and bushes is worse than when I was in my car. Thereâs nothing between me and the sight of this property to help the look of disrepair.
Iâm not worried about cameras. I realized the ones we had when I was a kid must not be working because she had no idea who I was the first time I came until I spoke. There was obviously no visual.
So I take the time to look around and make my way to the garage. The rolling door is sealed tight, but the door on the side of the building is unlocked, as it always was when I was a kid.
I can feel the exhaustion trying to settle in, but I ignore it and push myself a little more. With less than four hours of sleep in three days, Iâm about ready to keel over. Inside the garage, itâs dusty and stagnant, but I see my old Cadillac and my fatherâs Rolls. Neither of them looks like theyâve been driven, especially mine, whose fender still sports a large scrape from the McDonaldâs drive thru.
The memory of me and Vin doing a late night run, because we were stoned out of our minds and needing munchies, makes me laugh. This was also the vehicle where I took Adriâs virginity. The thought instantly gives me pause because thinking of taking Gabrielâs motherâs virginity right after fucking him is fucking nasty.
In the best fucking way.
My cock hardens at the thought of fucking Adriannaâs son, and I shake my head. I should be disgusted with my-damn-self.
I head to the back of the garage and find a few totes stacked in a corner.
