Chapter 19
A few days later, Luke and Brian were at the computer and communication center again. They had skipped lunch period. Luke was hardly hungry these days with so many worries in his mind. They were trying once more to open Lukeâs mother files.
âLuke, we have to find a way to get in the files. The fact that we were able to get your motherâs files from Marianne was incredible, that alone is a reason to find out whatâs in it.â
âI know, I know. I have tried everything. Is so frustrating.â
âThink of something that meant a lot to her besides you and your dad. Thatâs way too obvious.â
âLet me think,â said Luke, holding both side of his temple and closing his eyes.
âWait, what was the name of the company she worked for?â asked Brian.
âYou mean the science institute? Let me try it. The name was Avalon,â he said entering the word. âNo, it is not that one either.â
âTry it again with capital letters.â
âNo, thatâs not it either.â
âHow about the whole name? Try that.â
Luke typed in the name âAvalon Science Institute.â
He looked at Brian and shook his head.
âNo, thatâs not it either.â
âHow about the book you are always talking about, whatâs the name of the book?â
âYes! The book. You may be right, how I didnât I think of that!â
Feeling a little more hopeful, he input the words âPlanet Earthâ and the screen filled with file folders.
âI told you!â exclaimed Brian, punching him on the shoulder.
Luke looked into the files. There was a list of doctorâs records, family pictures, bank account information, and so on and then, at the very last of the files, they found one file titled âpurpose.â
Luke looked at Brian with big open eyes and breathed in.
âIf there is something, it has to be in here.â
âYes, open it!â
âIâm afraid of what I will find.â
âIâm here, Luke,â replied Brian. âNow is the time.â
Luke pressed the button and a bunch of information filled the screen.
He expected to find something that would explain the accident but instead, they found a list that read:
âEnvironmental disasters of the 20th century.
