Sarah pointed to the lower part of the call sheet. “This has Chef Bernardi and Wanda’s names on it for tomorrow afternoon. Is that all the time they get to make the cakes?”

Maybelle peeked at the call sheet. “That’s right.”

“But they can’t possibly make wedding and grooms’ cakes by themselves in—what? Four hours?”

“They’re not. Chef Bernardi and Wanda already submitted sketches for the proposed wedding and grooms’ cakes. Tomorrow, they’re only making a scale model of a groom’s cake associated with one of the couple’s dreams. Knowing cakes take time, they’ll both be allowed, using helpers if they like, to start making the wedding cakes for Friday on Wednesday. The show is paying for the ingredients. A winner will be announced on Thursday and spotlighted during the Friday wedding. The loser’s cakes will be donated somewhere, but I don’t recall where.”

“Don’t tell me another photo opportunity?”

“Probably.”

“Are they baking in the same place? With some of the things Chef Bernardi has said about Wanda, that could be extremely uncomfortable for her.”

“No. The plan is for Chef Bernardi to use the kitchen at Jane’s Place, while Wanda bakes at Southwind. When they finish baking at their respective locations, the camera people will film their scale models and then blend the tape for Wednesday.”

Sarah was about to ask if the cakes were going to be judged only on looks or if somehow taste would come into play, but the unexpected tones of a xylophone being struck interrupted their conversation. In fact, the notes caught everyone’s attention, bringing the activity in the room to a standstill.
